    Hello,

has someone repaired those yellow sidelights from Volvo S40.

Is that an easy job, my friend mentioned that you have to change the whole unit, you cannot change just the bulb.

    Is this correct or not?

The car is Volvo s40 98,

    thanks

Are these the side marker lamps you're talking about? And is it just the lens broken or what?

the side lamps, if its just the bulb, they come out very easy, they just twist and pull out.

if its the lamps your replacing, they come out with one screw, and are very easy to slot back in again

OP are you referring to the main indicator on the wing or the amber strip light located on the bumper as seen below:

    Hi,

    thanks for fast replies,

yes it is the side marker lamps, the light located in the bumper and good to know that I only have to change the bulb,

does anyone have an idea what kind of bulb does the side marker lamps have?

    Ok,

I had a discussion with previous owner and you have to change the whole unit, you cannot change the bulb.

Only with S40 cars 01-> you can change the bulb, this because in old models the bulb is covered with wax and you cannot change it properly.

You can change the bulb if your anyway good with a stanley knife.

The bulb holder is made into the unit and covered with like a hard silicone. If your willing to try and cut the silicone away and release the holder you can change the bulb on its own.
Mind you it doesnt always work and the bulb holder itself can get broken and then you`ll have to buy the whole thing anyway but its worth it to have a go when you consider the price below.

Unit is 20.83 + vat and a bulb is 60 cent.

Its a small capless bulb--5watt.Think the common name for them is a 211.
