Humax Picture Quality

Migrated from the Lidl/Comag box to the Humax HD PVR.

HD picture quality is good but what I did not expect is that SD picture quality from the Humax via HDMI seems way better than the Lidl SD scart picture (although I can't do simulateous comparison of the two boxes as I have yet to run a second cable).

So I am wondering is the better picture quality due to HDMI cable being better than Scart or is it that the Humax box is just superior ? I have read (but understand little) about picture upscaling and I am wondering if that explains the difference.

Yep its a combination of HDMI and upscaling.
