Luas stop intimidation

Apparently this kind of bullying, and intimidatory behaviour that was more prevalent in the early days at Luas stops was supposed to cease moreorless indefinitely bar a few isolated incidents that could seldom be accounted for or prevented - but a few signs indicating large penalties for loitering and the presence of more security around the stops hasn't really been enforced at all.

That said, I think begging and hassling for change seems to have been clamped down on, as I've experienced far less of it withing the last year or so.

To get to the point regarding intimidation, as much as personnel have cleaned up/prevented the plagues from haranguing punters for change, I think they've done little to prevent the abuse that goes on by gangs of toerags either waiting for a tram or on the tram.

I find this kind of abuse from vacuous, ignorant clods tends to happen moreso at the suburban stops (anywhere from Ranelagh to Dundrum), lateish on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening whilst carrying a few drinks on them.

Fair enough, there's a good chance one's gonna experience some banter from the boyos while they're waiting etc. but over the last few months it's becoming a hangout spot for a number of cretins. And this wouldn't be isolated to the one stop.

I haven't been abused with serious vitriol from these types yet (I'm sure I've be scoffed at) but I've been witness to far harsher punishment they've dished out on people who wouldn't stand up to them at all. Sometimes there'd be anything up to 15 of them acting the arse, feigning squaring-up to people, roaring at the unassuming and mocking whatever they found their small minds weren't in agreement with. They strike me as cowards, like most people like that, but I'm wondering has anyone experienced this kind of base behaviour at the stops on the Luas line?

Just to add, calling Luas etc would be the prudent action and not moan about it on here, but I just wanted to see who's experienced this.

I have never had problems on the Luas, other than with the overly enthusiastic ticket checker people(Long story).

On a side note, did you happen to consume a thesaurus before writing this post?

:pac: Try not to bring it to the stop over the weekend! It wouldn't go down well at all.

Sir, when the ragamuffins descend to the depths of vitriol, a gentleman must don his pugilism stance and demand satisfaction, more so if a lady is the subject of the harassment by these plebs.

    An apt response I believe.

May I suggest that you bite your thumb at them? I'd sure the scally-wags will back down post haste.

Watch the foul language good chap! (only joking...you'll get this in AH) Well as a culchie living on the northside of Dublin I'd say he's gotten off lightly compared to some of the stuff I've come across during my last 5 years in the fair city.

Haven't had much trouble at the LUAS but am sick to death of the scummers who try to "help" when buying from the ticket machines. Thanks love, but please get out of my personal space when it's abundandly clear that I don't want your help, or for you to touch me.

...same goes for those incredibly dodgy looking guys around Parnell sq./mountjoy sq. area's offering to "watch the car" when you park there...

For comparison, try going between Tallaght and Black Horse, then complain :)

Have to say I've used it quite a lot at the times outlined and haven't really come across any trouble. Occasionally, there are groups of young lads making a lot of noise but it's not directed at anyone.

But yeah, if you've had a bad experience talking to us ain't gonna help.

Shortly after alighting the Luas with my supper, a pair of ungentlemanly ruffians robbed me and absconded with my tuck!

This is brilliant, they must have been rich scumbags, because chicken fillets are not cheap :)

Also, WTF are we paying the "citizen" for anyway? Whenever you really need him (on the southside or green luas line) he is never around, scratching his balls somewhere... useless tbh.

Yeah always avoid that spot, shadiest area to park in all dublin I'd say.

I used to work in an office building around the corner. But needless to say I've never been back there. To park, walk or anything besides

Don't you just hate it when people with narrow vocabularies get their hands on a thesaurus?

You can actually see them going "'free', what a boring word."
"Emancipate is so much better. "

and then that inevitably leads to:
"I walk down Moore Street around six each evening to get some emancipated fruits".

Sounds like a great spot to park. I hate when I get back to the car and it's roasting hot.
