    Hi,
I completely forgot my sign on day was last Thursday-only remembered late Friday arvo! I'm over in England at the moment, was trying to ring my office(Maynooth) but don't have enough credit left to do it now.
A friend of mine is trying to ring them from there for me, but there's no answer so far. I'll be back tomorrow, have sent them an email via the welfare online site saying I completely forgot, and would go in as soon as I get back.

I checked the FAQ's and it says

Where a person fails to sign on their signing day and has still failed to sign by the next payment run date, payment is suspended on the computer system and the next payment does not issue.

When it says "the payment run date" is that the date I'm due to collect the next payment (ie this wednesday)? Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation or knows whether I will be able to collect payment this week, or whether it might be stopped?
Any help/comments, good or bad, are welcomed!
    cheers..

Thanks TomRed. This might sound like a stupid question, but do you have to inform them even though you're not actually out of the country on the sign on day? I left Friday morning, just completely forgot on the Thursday, eejit that I am. Raging at myself, because I spent the Thursday at my house cleaning etc and didn't register the day/significance of it at all. If I go in as soon as I get back tomorrow, will that make any difference? Thanks again.

Yes,any period your not in the country you must tell our local office regardless of whether its a signing day or not.The sooner you go the sonner you will get paid.

I believe if you miss signing on your payment is suspended immediately. You then have 2 weeks to report to the social welfare to explain and to sign, at which point your claim/payments will be reinstated. Just the "push of a button" to reinstate, apparently.

If, however, you fail to report to them within these 2 weeks, your claim is cancelled.

This is what the Waterford social welfare office just told me anyway.

Went in first thing when I got back, explained the situation, they just asked me to sign, and said my payment would be delayed til Friday (normally comes through on a Weds.) but that it would be back to normal next week. Cheers again for the info TomRed and Benifa:)
