iPhone bricked by 3.1.2

I tried to update my iPhone to firmware version 3.1.2 earlier this afternoon, it downloaded the upgrade alright, installed it about 99% of the way and then said there was an unknown error and the phone needed to be restored. I've tried to restore it about times now and it seems to go through the whole restore and update process only for it to say that it needs to be restored again at the end.

I'm currently getting a message with words to this effect every time I go through the process: A phone going through the recovery process has been detected, it will need to be restored before it is able to be used with itunes

Anyone have any idea of how to fix this?

Is your phone showing a symbol of a USB cable and a iTUnes logo ?
If so , your phone is caught in a "recovery mode" loop .

If you go to you tube and enter " recovery mode loop" you will find a vid on a simple way to download a piece of software that will release your phone from this loop . Sorry I can't nor have time to place a link as I am using my phone to type this.

The software when downloaded has a simple GUI with a button at the base saying " clear recovery mode loop" or somthing to that effect .

    Let me know

Bring it to a call centre near Burger King on O'Connell street, Dublin. Good guys, they'll help you out :)
