Seems to be women that like them mostly

But I suppose women can say they're sick of football on the box too.

Just looked up for the craic about TV chefs here and came to this. As a non-chef and non-foodie, I find there are way too many of them. Mainly only people involved in restaurants and foodies would like them.

I would have no objection to one or two of them but not a whole load of them. We have at present Kitchen Hero Home Cooked and Masterchef on. Rachel Allen is seldom off the air either. We have had one offs from the likes of Dylan Pressure Cooker McGrath and innovative concepts like the Guerilla Gourmet. The only cookery programme I liked was the Hairy Bikers as they add a lot of culture and variety to their show as well as just the cooking. The Restaurant is on the other side of the scale: woeful reality cookery TV at its worst. But Kitchen Hero is even worse, much worse actually.

There is also too much sport on the TV agreed too. Although I like some sports, I think there is way too much of it and it can get boring. Agreed too that them building boom era property programmes like House Hunters in the Sun were terrible as are all those house and garden makeover stuff the likes of Diarmuid Gavin do. Most men and women I know do not like any of these things and they are really only of interest to someone in these industries or in that situation.

However, the WORST programmes on RTE Ever still remain The Week in Politics and The Frontline (thank god, this circus is gone, Prime Time is a way superior programme) which have shown what a talentless, arrogant and smug noisy lot our politicians are. ANY programme that is 100% comprised of these idiots debating makes even Kitchen Hero look excellent by comparison!

There are loads of them but a lot of them are awful like that clown on RTE(young fella), Rawwwwchel Awwwwllen, Hairy Bikers, anything ITV related etc etc.

But the likes of Masterchef (UK far more than Ireland), James Martin, Michel Roux, Rick Stein and Raymond Blanc are well worth watching.

I love watching them, love the Food Network channel too. :)

I'd like to see more gardening programmes that show you how to grow vegetables, not just flowers.

I don't like how Rachel Allen and her family have been the staple cookery shows wheeled out year in year out. Maybe it's to do with their brand sponsoring shows.

Just watch Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal. That's all the contemporary cooking you need.

The travel channel are showing the old Keith Floyd programs on a perpetual loop.

Floyd is the only TV chef I've ever watched actual full series of. The shows are half travelogue and when he does cook it's simple stuff, done well, and with a glass or twelve of red wine during, just as I like to cook!

He is terrible and Kitchen Hero Home Cooked is such an awful concept for a programme. Just as you could think that cookery/reality/chef TV could get no worse, this comes along !!!
