Since it was taken over, its gone down a lot.

We used to get the table sampler. Its now much smaller and even the plate is smaller.

    We stopped going there altogether.

Well as far as i know this place used to be lovely, but from what posts are saying its gone downhill. So in a nice restaurant i think that would be good value.

Same as the rest, it's just a glorified cafe.

I was there about six weeks ago, didn't get a special, but had steak and chips which was fine.

    When did it change owners??

I live up the road from it and the last time I was there (at least a year and a half ago) I was not impressed at all. It felt like you were herded in and out and the staff were horrid.

Sounds like it has not improved much either.....

    Cheers,
    M

A friend of mine was staying in Dublin for the weekend and we both went into Joels for a sandwich and coffee - both the coffee & sandwiches were putrid and overpriced! Felt bad as it was my suggestion to go there in the first place - never again!

While I was waiting for outlook to start I did a quick google search...

Fitzgerald Group bought Joel's sometime in 2003 according to a Sunday Business Post article (the only mention(!))

Ahhh was grand before the takeover...
