    First off - beautiful lab!

It's that time of year again, they shed their summer coat and grow in their winter coat. It tends to be a bigger problem in long haired dogs and dogs with a double coat. If it is normal yearly shedding the only tip I can give is brush, brush, brush and brush some more! Because Labs are a short hair dog, use a stiff brush with dense bristles to get out all the extra hair. It such a pain in the ass but it does cut down on all the hair around the house.

If, on the other hand, it is very bad and the dog is losing hair to the point of patchiness and baldness then you need to take a look at it's general health. What food are you feeding? Is the dog stressed in any way? Is the dog eating/exercising/etc. as normal? A trip tot he vet may be in order to solve the problem as the dog may be allergic to certain things (food etc.) or could have a skin infection, along with countless other things that cause dogs to lose their hair for no obvious reason.
