    Can't get it sorted.

It's showing up as the signal strength being %14 and intensity being %78. But if I take out the cable which connects the dish/lnb to the decoder box the quality remains %14 and the intensity %0. Obviously I need to try and get the quality much higher but I've tried the dish at different locations around my property, anything shed any light on how I can solve it?

if you are trying to receive the Astra 2 UK FTA Channels......
the only way to get a signal is to point the dish at 28.2 degrees east of south with the correct elevation. ( approx 25 degrees) and the LNB Correctly 'Skewd' and the dish '
Level'...... WITH NOTHING BLOCKING THE SIGNAL eg. Trees , tall buildings etc.etc.
a simple 'sat beeper' meter may well help you out and only cost a few quid.
other than that a better and bigger dish may be your solution as these Lidl dishes are pretty flimsy.

It's for my home. I have mounted the dish on the roof, on the side of the house and out the back garden on various poles, the bleeper which came in the box has been loud at some of those locations but the signal quality on the menu screen on the tv hasn't rose once.

I'm looking for the free-to-air ones? The BBC's, Film4, Discovery those kinda channels?

On the TPScan section on the menu I have Astra 28e or something like that up and the signal quality is only %14 regardless whether the connection from the Dish/LNB is connected to the decoder or not, so firstly I'm looking to get that signal quality to its highest and obviously in turn I will able to tune in the channels?

if i was installing for you, a 60 cm Sky Zone 2 Dish would be ideal. easily bought from ebay etc.
you will get the likes of the BBC TV and Radio, ITV, Channel4, C4, E4, More4, Film4 etc etc. (see my website www.british-tv-in-france.co.uk where there is a link to a reasonably uptodate list of the FTA Channels)

HOWEVER... you wont receive the Sky Subscription Channels such as Discovery, History, Sky 1 etc etc

the best idea is to locate the dish at approx 3 metres high if possible on your east or South wall , just so long as it has the clear view to 28.2 East OF South as above. Protection from the wind is important. (ie somewhere a easy to work as possible). but if the chimney is the only suitable site then that is where it will have to go.
just remember setting the dish up is a little tricky and does require a bit of care and attention....(otherwise how would all the installers make a living!!!) BUT it can be done!!! just remember there are 4 or 5 satellites reasonably close together and it is important to set on to the correct one.... your beeper will just tell you that you have found 'a satellite' not that it is actually the correct one!!
hope this makes sense and helps.

are you pointing the dish in the right direction?
dishpionter.com is a good place to start.

here is another link for setting up.

and yet another one explaining the terminology ,

If the beeper gets loud, it means you're getting a signal from some satellite (or you're standing in front of the dish!). In this case, you'd be best advised to do a blind scan, see what channels you're getting, post some examples, and someone can figure out to what position the dish is pointed. It's the best starting point, to find something, and then work your way from there to where you want to be, which is probably 28E.

Also, maybe before doing a blind scan, if there are any channels preloaded on other satellites (like Astra 1, Turksat, etc), when you get a loud beeping, check these channels as well, and see if any come through.

%99.99 I'm pretty stubborn and never quit although on this occasion it's on behalf of a family member and it's been 2 weeks together trying to finish the job, I think the patience has worn thin all over at this stage. I'm aware it's probably just something simple but seriously we've tried everything and in turn came here the weekend seeking advice so let the people who know how in and see if we were clueless afterall.

    Thanks though appreciate the help.
