    Great news! Although I would imagine some Poles m ustbe a bit p:ssed that he let a vote in Ireland dictate his signing of the treaty after it had already gone trough the polish democratic process.

    I believe it hasnt been ratified in Ireland yet as they are awaiting the Presidential signature? According to Wiki anyway :o

    Yeah but he was waiting for the outcome of the Irish referendum. As I think the Dail ratification is (dare I say) practically a given.

    New states joining must sign an Accession Treaty with each member state, and each member state state must ratify it separately. The enlargement process is in this sense not taken through the EU structure. How the EU works 101.
