    Fixing up an old bike.
There's rust in the cables, and the rear derailleur is kindof nackered.
Owner doesnt use it alot. At all. Nor does she use the gears much when she does use it.
So I'm thinking of doing away with them altogether, as I dont think she's that bothered with spending money getting it re-cabled or whatever.
And if I do take the detailleur off and shorten the chain, she can always go to a bike shop and get it fixed up properly by someone who has parts and knows what they're doing.
I'm just wondering... leave in the middle sprocket on either side?
Also, I have a wee chain breaker, is there a particular link I should go for here, or just pick one at random? Are they all the same???
