What optical treatment is covered on the medical card?

Does anyone know the exact entitlements for optical care are under the medical card?

I’m currently in receipt of the Jobseekers Allowance and have a full medical card.

I need to go for an eye test shortly. Because I have a medical card and am on the dole, is the full cost of the eye-test, lens and new frames covered or what exactly is covered?

Thanks in advance for your help, I can’t find any information that answers these questions on the internet.

You need to pick an spec saver etc and get the form, complete it and return it to the social welfare they will then send you approval letter takes about 5/6 weeks and you get the eye test and a pair of €59 glasses free
