I am wondering is a barred iphone 3GS any good to anyone.

Last weekend I was up in dublin and had my iphone stolen on me while I waited for a taxi.(before you get on to me,I know I shouldnt have it on show but what could I do I was drunk).Rang O2 and got it barred ASAP

Anyway got a call on my house fone from the garda in Dundrum Garda Station cpl days later telling me the caught a guy trying stealing a phone on a girl and found mine back in his flat. They sent it on by post to me.

Now I have 2,well 1 that works anyway.

Any ideas what to do with the other,it is only 4 weeks old!

Was thinking of giving it back into to O2.

How is that possible? The latest one came out yesterday, you said it was stolen last weekend?

Anyway it can still be used as an iPod Touch.

    Thankyou!

One minute " I had it stolen last weekend", next minute " The Garda sent it back to me by post"

Then " It has the latest firmware".

Nowhere does he mention that he got it back and restored it to the latest firmware.

    Only after I asked.

    OP if you want advice:

    1. Give us all the facts.

    2. Be a little more pleasant.

Having done a bit of research it seems the only way to "fix" the iphone in question is to unbarr the phone by changing the IMEI.

This is supposedly illegal in the UK but iv no idea if its illegal here, can anyone shed any light?

If its not would this work to solve the barring issue, obvioulsy the jailbreak and the unlock is a seperate issue.

Guys, if you have a problem with a post, please report it.

Bickering makes everyone look silly and adds nothing to the conversation.
