Anyone any rumours on who will be the next Ceann Comhairle, heard a whisper that it might be Mary Harney?

He has already stated he don't want the position.

There is reasons why she won't be selected, that are known to a lot of FF TDs (journalists too if we're being honest).
Simply said, if she was chosen, certain papers will suddenly have a field day.

She has a number of times on Radio said she don't want to run again anyway in a normal election. She wants to sort some other things out beyond politics.
She has her many pensions (1 for each 4 years) and will retire absolutely comfortably.

Why would someone from the forthcoming FG & Labour government choose Mary Harney ?

A labour minister last night said on RTE (Primetime: http://www.rte.ie/player/#v=1057217) that because they called O'Donoghue out, they are being "frozen out" now anyway from any discussions about the position.
The likelihood is that the job will go to a Green (Sargent?) or a FF man.
