    Do you remember when every second car used to have these? You never see them any more.

    Yeah - you're right. I guess a lot of people used to holiday at home in Ireland , or by car ferry to somewhere in Wales or England and used roof racks for the luggage. I remember when my family went for a week to Killarney one time we brought half the house ! Nowadays we're all so used to having to pay for extra luggage on flights that we have all got used to traveling light.

    You're right - it's years since I saw a car with a roof rack. They seem to have died out when flights and holidays abroad became affordable for ordinary people
