Mine is gone, wont power up for some reason. Was wondering how many have stopped similarly?

Its the silver thompson model, its not even that old! Wonder how long it will take them to get out a new one

read this on another thread and it worked on mine after it looked dead after a software upgrade last week...

hold the left arrow button on the front of the unit and keep it held, unplug the DVR fromt he wallsocket, plug it back in and only release the button when the orange light flashes... wait a few seconds until the red standby light comes on and press the UPC button on the control - should be back on.

call UPC before doing that - you could lose all the channels

Don't forget to rub your belly and pat your head whilst doing the above, it's very important.

Mine was stuck in standby yesterday afternoon, but pulled the plug for a few seconds and back to "normal" (or as normal as it can get...)...

Its a major problem apparently, when i rang them last night the guy said they did the software up date on the 29th i think he said and that a load went, but must came back on ok. Mine only went yesterday tho for some reason.

Anyway the guy arrived today, new box in, went dead, another new box went dead after a few minutes and then third time lucky the next one worked for some reason. Not only that he had another 6 to go any replace in the afternoon. Costly software update if you ask me! :D

Didn't have any upgrade problems with ours (Thomson model) but the VFD display on the front died a few months ago and the remote is starting to act up ("TV" and "UPC" buttons barely work, and no it's not a battery thing).

Mine went pair shaped too, but the left arrow trick seems to have fixed it. Who knows but it started working again. Muppets.

For anyone wondering, all the 'left arrow trick' is actually doing is forcing a software update, that's all.
