My rugby boots are stinking lately! I leave them in the spare room with the window open, but they just stink up the whole house! I clean them regularly but the smell won't go away.

How do I get rid of the smell?

Get hold of some Mycil powder and give each boot a generous dusting, inside and out. Leave them to air for a few days.

The smell is most likely a mould developing due to damp and the boots never being dried out properly after each time they get wet.

Had this problem before, left the boots in a plastic bag for a few days.

Clean them, under the tap with a nail brush if necessary.

Stuff them with newspaper, put them beside a rad for a while to dry them out

Put about 10 tablespoons of Bicarbonate of soda in each of them.

(bicarb is cheap, maybe €1.50 for a big bag, available in baking section in supermarket)

Put them in a black plastic bag, and freeze overnight.

Defrost and they will be as good as the day you got them, well smell wise anyway.
