    Hi All !

Currently looking to but a place of my own and as far as I know there are no sat dishes allowed on the property.

There is a large balcony at the rear though and this faces just to the south of west (if you get what i mean !!)

What I am wondering is how high are the satellites in the sky ? Are they close to the horizon or high up.

If they are high up then I reckon ill have no problem with a hidden dish on the balcony.

Also is 28.8 degrees east 28.8 degrees off south ?

    Thanks all !

can you see the sun at 11 am?

thats roughly where you need to point it.

slightly to the left of where it is now ( 1150 )

Thanks John, yes I can see this.

Is that the height in the sky that the satellite is at ?

I think it's more on the horizon not pointing at the sun, only about 22,000 miles away.

This time of the year the Sun passes behind the Astra 2 satellite group just before 11.00 (as per John mac's post). The satellite group is exactly where the Sun is in the sky at an elevation of about 21 degrees - it's not on the horizon.
