I recently bought a new Dell Studio 1555 (end of august) but recently the charger has become extremely hot while it's charging the battery, so hot it's too hot to handle - literally. Anyone any idea what i should do? I'm afraid it might catch fire or something if i plug it in for too long. Thanks :)

tis only a new laptop and i assume it comes with a minimum 1-year warranty, contact them and they will be happy to replace it for you,

they did the same for me :)

    What Robbie said.

I'd like to ask first though:

Is the battery a 6 or 9 cell?
Also, is the charger a 65watt or 90watt? They may have accidentally sent you out the incorrect charger for the battery you have.

It's a 9-cell battery with a 90 watt charger! it gets incredibly hot when it's charging but when the battery is full and its still plugged in, it's cools down to just being warm to touch

Sounds fine to me to be honest. Chargers do get pretty hot when charging. If it cools down considerably when done charging, it seems normal.
