URGENT - is this happening to any other UPC customer?

    hi,

I have a UPC DVR box.
I'm getting a very "jittery" picture from BOTH live TV and the recordings on the hard drive - it's like it's dropping frames. the sound of course also cuts out during this. the response time from the box is also very slow.

also, if I rewind and replay any jittery moments, the picture is fine.

    it is incredibly irritating.

is this happening to anybody else?

    thanks

You need an engineer, the box itself is trying to maintain a picture while there is no signal coming in, it picks back up once signal comes back leaving you with ether pixled screen fr a sec or freezing screen.

The guide is sent through from their headend so thats why its slow to respond too. Shutting down the box and restarting should help as a temp fix but long term you need someone to call and review the house signal.

In the same boat myself but getting time off is a bit mental now.

I finally got through to customer service and spoke to a woman who is a rare find in UPC - someone who actually knows what is going on and what she is talking about.

she said the same as what you said and that the last upgrade is causing it - a lot off people are worse off with no reception at all.

I'll get a call back to arrange a for an engineer to come by. she said it would be before the week-end.

Hopefully I won't lose any recordings. strange thing is that I was watching ROCKY on RTE and the frame dropping was worse than ever. the box shut off for and upgrade but since coming back on I haven't seen any problems bar the slow menu.

a UPC engineer called by today and reset the DVR.

it was fine from then on - no dropping frames, menu back to proper speed.

then 8 o clock came, and problems returned.

going to see what things are like in the morning during off peak viewing times
