I have Cleveland Halo's. The 3 is 22 degree and the 4 is 25 degree.

I would argue that they are the best for the average golfer. Unlike a lot of hybrids like the TaylorMades, the sole isn't flat. It's got a gentle V shaped sole and it picks the ball up beautifully from the fairway. And great out of the rough too. Available all the way up to the 6 - 31 degree.

after too many inconsistent shots with my rescue wood i've given up using it and have gone back to using a 4 iron for the last couple rounds i've played - so far so good!!

    madharry,

A rescue 3 is equivalent to a 3 iron, a rescue 4 equivalent to a 4 iron and so on. Club lofts between do differ from manufacturer to manufacturer though, so a Mizuno 3 rescue might not have the same loft as a Ping 3 iron!!

I wouldn't agree there... my taylormade 4 rescue is 210 yards carry and that would be way longer than any 4 iron

The theory is that a rescue 4 is suppossed to replace a 4 iron. I suppose in practice it might not work out exactly like that. I Used to have the taylormade burner rescue 4 but got rid of it. It used to go way way too high and played more like a 5 1/2 iron. I carry a rescue 2 now (Ping) and ditched the 5 wood.
    Is your taylormade the burner???

Yes the burner 07 models but with custom fujikura shafts that are a hideous purple colour.
I hit my 3 iron 205 and the 4 rescue goes 210 yards carry though the rescue goes much higher so will be affected by wind a lot. I have ditched the 4 rescue in favour of the 3 iron for the winter/links golf.... I have a 3 wood and also a 3 rescue which slots in between it and the 3 iron.

    thats not the theory actually.

I think Burger may be right. I don't think the numbers on the TM rescues correspond to the irons they are to replace, ie a rescue 3 is not like a 3 iron. It would make sense if they did. I have a TM 19* rescue dual 3 but it's a 2 iron replacement(or 5 wood in my case).

Are you going to enlighten us so Burgerman? The sales rep who told me was wrong so I guess???

I just told you my TM 4 rescue carries 210 yards in the summer. I'm not a overly big hitter... Granted I don't use TM irons but there's no way I'd carry a 4 iron much more than 190 yards so the rescue 4 is substantially different.

I know ya. I accept that and my last post wasn't directed at you. I just want burgerman55 to tell me what the 'actual theory' is, since he didn't elaborate in his post.
