Is that the error message (win32k.exe) that appears after the opening sentence, a problem has been detected....

it talks of memory dump etc.. and says that win32k.exe is most likely at fault.. i ran hijack this to see if someone could sopt something from the log

Is it win32k.sys or win32k.exe? - this is important. If it's .sys then this is a legitimate Windows file, if .exe then it's most likely a virus or rootkit.

yea i did a windows update to sp3..

everytime i try to run avg it closes and blue screen comes up with different error about out of screen error...

also get explorer shutting down with C:\DOCUME~1\\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER44fc.dir00\Mini100709-01.dmp
    C:\DOCUME~1\\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER44fc.dir00\sysdata.xml

and it definitely is win32k.exe but i cant find it either

ive recently added in 512 of memory to this laptop

When the AV won't run, I'd definitely look at there being a dodgy file somewhere. Does SpyBot or Adaware/Windows Defender find anything? The only other thing I could think of is trying an older Windows restore point.

    Upload your minidump
    C:\windows\minidump it's a small file around 27Kb in size

I will have a look at it then if you want.
or else have a look in this location C:\DOCUME~1\\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER44fc.dir00\Mini100709-01.dmp
but it should be in C:\windows\minidump
