Yes i am quite addicted and i play several matches a day.
Although i was a total noob at the start, even with some dota experience, im getting a lot better.
The way your stats gets recorded and the way the game discourages leavers is great. The reconnection feature is also great as many times in dota id be dropped just coz of dsl dropping. Makes people play to their best and nearly always have full games.

Also love the "RAGE QUIT" when someone disconnects :pac:

fun game, enjoyable to play when you teamates know how to play, can be annoying though when they feed 24/7. what's your favourite heroes ?

Great game - not particularly accessible to people who never played Dota but can be a blast if you get into a good team - in opposition to that it can be an absolute nightmare if you get stuck with one moron - nothing worse then getting owned because a bad teammates let himself level up the other team by getting whacked too often.

As far as I am aware the game will be $30 at launch also - however the retail/boxed version (if there is one) would prob cost more

If you pre-purchase you can change your username once, after the game is released

Played both Heroes of Newerth and its counterpart league of legends(www.lol-europe.com), and quite frankly i have to go with league of legends on being massively superior in almost every respect.

-League of legends is currently in Open beta and will be completely free to play when it launches, yes, to clarify HoN will cost 30 bucks or more and league of legends will be completely free, there is an ingame micro transaction system in place but nothing to can buy will alter the gameplay to favor one player over another, its mostly cosmetic.

-League of legends is more noob friendly, there is a tutorial in place and a skill matching system already implemented, HoN has yet to include a quick search skill matching system and you have to browse hundreds of custom games to find one that isn't full of elitists. The champion abilities you pick at the start such as heal and teleport as well as the health and mana regen rates are also alot easier on the uninitiated.

-League of legends has much much (i stress this) much more clearly defined champions. Each champion has a clear personality, the tank, the ranged caster, the assassin, they all look incredibly varied. Not to mention the spell casters actually scale with gear, in HoN gear doesn't your spell damage.

HoN heroes just feel pretty much bland, they blend in with the minions on the map, none stand out as having a major ability to avoid or a weakness in any specific situation. You just hack away at minions and look for an opening.

I didnt like HoN when I tried it simply because all the hardcore ex-dota crowd seem to prefer it. It makes for one god awful community. In fact, the Dota community was probably the worst online gaming community I've ever come across.

That and League of Legends is infinitely superior for all the reasons Companion Cube gave and more...

And it's Heroes of Newerth for anyone looking for it. I also have 6 beta keys if anyone wants one send me a PM. Probably actually have a few for LoL EU and US too, when I think about it...

Lol isn't actually in beta anymore, it's gone on full release so you don't need a key to play, just sign up on the site.

Just had my first game of this.... woah its so fast we got raped! me and another dude got to lvl 19 and other 3 teammates where all still lvl 15 and the other te4am where all 22/23 and just raped us!

First impressions is its mental paced.. and I did have a little trouble select enemy heroes as opposed to enemy creeps or my own creeps the icons are too small.

Ill keep at it tho it was a good laugh.

i just hate that 'FYP' thing...

and im 99% positive that LoL has a heck of a lot of retards playing. it would take some doing to have more retards then hon though

LoL looks like a kids game, whereas HoN is rugged and manly.

Been playing a lot of HoN lately, awesome game and such a steep learning curve. Lot of retards and assholes playing it though, mostly due to the DotA influx, but they've just brought in a new report player feature, so hopefully that'll help things.

Ive been playing a bit of LoL lately and it really does have that 'fisher-price' feel about it. Its a lot better in some respects than HoN but nowhere near as good in others. Horses for courses really.

The big selling point is that its free and its something to do till sc2 reappears.

Fair point, I'm not a big fan of FYP either. I can honestly say it's the first time I've ever used it on Boards. ;)

And yes, LoL has a fair selection of retards too and I don't like what they did to the Judicator character either. Pretty much destroyed the game for me as she was the only Hero I enjoyed playing.

I never did give HoN a reasonable chance to be fair, but only for the same reasons I could never get into DotA. People just ragequit if there is a noob in the game or spam retarded insults at you until you ragequit.

I didn't like LoL's cartoony style when I first came across it, but the gameplay was fantastic especially when playing well with friends. I guess that's a large part of the appeal of DotA/HoN too.

Either way, I wish them both success... until SC2 arrives and anally molestes them both.

Oh and Demigod was great too until I got LoL/HoN beta access. It was just too cookie cutter for my tastes and not enough people playing it to keep me interested sadly.
