Student Insurance Job

I have an interview coming up in the next few days with a major insurance company in Dublin for an 8 month work placement as part of my course (I'm studying actuary maths).

If anyone has any advice or tips on interviews with insurance companies or with companys taking students for work placements I like to hear them.

I'm thinking they can't really ask on previous relevant work experience in the insurance industry as very few people going for the job have any. So I'm presuming interviewers will focus questions on transferable skills from other jobs, course study and hobbies??

    what type of insurance Motor/Home/Life?
what area of the company Sales/Customer Service/Claims/Assistance/Underwriting?
    Is it a call centre?

I presume you can use MS office, if you are good with Excel/Powerpoint, I would definitely mention it.

The area is Life and Pensions. Its not a call centre or customer service department, its the head office in Dublin. The job descriptions says I'll be working with qualified actuaries and project managers, updating, testing spreadsheets and the like. The really boring actuary work I would think. Excel and Powerpoint are no bother at all.
