Does anyone know if the NTL box can be used away from the cable point.
ie. Can I take to another house and watch recorded tv?

Probably not. I noticed since I cancelled the Movie channels, I can no longer watch recorded movies.

Doh, I missed this and asked the same question in another thread.

OP - what happens if you unplug the NTL cable from the box so you're not connected to NTL, and then try to play back the recorded video?????

    Another question:

Is there a VGA output on the UPC Digital+ box? Is there an audio output?

If I can show a recording whilst disconnected from UPC, I want to be able to send the signal to a projector using VGA etc.

There wouldn't be a VGA socket on the digital+ box, but it has HDMI, so if your projector has HDMI it should work, or even DVI with an adapter. There may be issues with HDCP with DVI - maybe someone more knoweldgable than me can advise if the digital+ box can output to DVI without any problems.

I don't see why not, IF you connect it to another cable point. AFAIK it only identifies itself by the card and box, not the connection point (stand to be corrected). So if YOU'RE still subscribed, and you connect it to another active cable connection, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

BUT it's probably a violation of the Terms of Service (again, it might not be, I'm just guessing)

The normal digital+ box only has SCART which can do RGB or composite, the HD box has both HDMI and SCART AFAIK. Neither have VGA.

Any had problems with the UPC box time being an hour behind?

    Is there an audio output?

You can get audio-out through HDMI, or the 3.5mm jack. I think there's an optical audio out too.

Well, this is very good to know. Can you say which box and service (HD or standard) you have?

Thanks, dunworth. I am putting on a fundraising event where I want to show something on a big screen with a projector. I have permission from the broadcaster and the content owner, but I don't want to have to go to the expense of getting UPC connected to the venue for a one-off. I don't mind getting Digital+ in at home, which would allow me to record the programme and play it back in the venue.

I don't trust my old VCR as it hasn't been used in years and was cheap to begin with!
