Inspiron 9300 Problem

hi,
im trying to fix an inspiron 9300 but it wont go past the welcome screen and i cant get it into system recovery.
any ideas.

try and restart and boot in safe mode
i think you can boot into safe mode if you hold down f5 or f8 in sure if you google it you will find the correct key

i have tried that but it still wont go onto the desktop

has the laptop not been in use for a while
i had a laptop and the bios battery was gone so every time i booted the laptop i had to go into the bios menu and set the clock this worked every time
if i did not set the clock it would stick at welcome screen

no it just suddenly happened at the weekend

what i would do is download Ubuntu
and put it on a disc
you can run this from the CD and then you would be able to identify if its a laptop problem or windows problem (most likely a windows problem)

after system recovery it wont connect to the internet. i have set up a new connection it but it still wont connect
