    Hi all,

I have a classic car in my garage for over two years that I never changed to Irish plates, I bought it in the Uk and never received the export cert, how do I go about legally bringing it in.

contact the dvla in wales i think..they should have sent you the v5 providing the person you bought it off sent it in..if not the chasis number should do if you contact them..when you get it you then bring it to the local revenue office to pay the vrt(if the car isnt over 30 yrs)they will give you a reciept and you new reg number and an rf100 form to fill out and return to the motor tax office for your new tax book

Apply for a certificate of permanent export from the DVLA
Go to the website and download form V756

Fill it in and send it back to them

they will send you teh certificate which you then bring to the VRO office.

    Simple!

Did you fill in your address on the "new owner" bit of the V5 for the vendor?

Mind you if you haven't got it now you're unlikely to!

They tell you Cert of Permanent Export take 21 working days to process, btw.
