Whats the difference between a community school and a vec school and can you apply for a job in both with a Teaching Council Clearance for your degree but no PGDE ?

A community school is stand-alone, with salaries paid by and funding directly given by the DES. A VEC school is part of a county-wide (or city) VEC scheme and the VEC office deals with salaries etc. VEC schools tend to be more likely to provide PLC courses, JCSP, LCA and other vocational programmes. Both types of school run provide mainstream JC and LC programmes.

Traditionally according to memo V7, teachers with a degree are deemed qualified in the VEC sector. However, this will not last. You'll always be playing second-fiddle to someone with a PGDE.

Save yourself a shed-load of hassle and go and do the PGDE.

Is this a rumour or something that is definitely in motion?
