Means Test Query

    hey all,

    just signed on last wk and as im living at home im awaiting a date to be means tested. my query is, i've already a trip booked to new york for ten days for thanksigivng in november. what will happen if my means test date lands on one of the dates that im away... is it easy enough to re-arrange your means test or is it frowned upon.:confused::confused:

    Not really frowned upon but you will simply be put to the back of the pile awaiting a means test (might be different if it was a medical reason etc.). You also need to declare that you are leaving the country for those ten days by filling out a form at the social welfare office, even if your application has not been processed.

    just got me means test letter this morning :eek:
    what wil i have to produce for the tester fella?
    i'm 32... skint! n living at home :( and just became
    a single man :(
    i am sweating over this means test
    anyone been through it that could give a blow by blow account of
    what happened and thre out come?

    Geez its not a school exam or anything, you don't fail or pass.

    They just want to establish that you're living where you say you are and that you have no means, which it sounds like you don't, so don't worry about it.

    They'll just ask you if you have any assests/income from anywhere basically. Only takes 10 mins.

    Dont worry about a means test. They are really just to see that you are living where you say you are living and to run through a few things. They might want to see your bank account - just to see you havent €1,000,000 tucked in there!!

    But they are very straightforward and the mean test officer isnt out to trick you or anything...
