    hi guys,
i was just wondering if ye had any suggestions as to where an 18 year old student (me) could travel to next summer.
I'd be looking to travel for 2/3 months depending on when college finishes up because i need to be back for late July. I'd need to keep cost as low as possible obviously but would love to go somewhere different.

I know this is a fairly broad thread but I've been browsing now for awhile and can't decide which direction to go i.e. J1 summer, voluntary work in Africa etc.
Even just a cheap trip around europe backpacking.

Just wondering have ye any experience of travelling this young, any suggestions and advice etc.

    thanks

I'm going interrailing around europe this summer. Can't wait. It's about 350 euro for your month's ticket and then just hostles and food so really it can be as cheap as you like. :)I'd love to go further away but I just don't have the money this year.

I've been looking at volunteering abroad websites and it all just seems very expensive. I'd say interrailing is probably your best bet.

Hi ktah, I would say inter-railing is your best bet especially since u need to be back by the end of july.Since your only 18 i would leave the j1 visa till your 20/21. If you plan on a working holiday, spain the spanish and greek island etc are a blast but the end of july is the middle of high season so employers wont be too keen on u...

p.s. If you are travelling with a friend u could rail around europe without an inter-rail pass.i.e. just buy your tickets at each stop.which lets u spend all the time u want in one location if u happen to like it.inter0rail pass can be a little restrictive..
