    Folks,

Just curious as to how many cups of tea/coffee per day would be acceptable. I drink about 3 cups of tea a day and 2 cups of coffee (one before and after training or working out) and I was just wondering would that be too much

Short answer: No. Tea, especially if black or green, is excellent and you should drink lots. Moderate coffee drinking (3-4 cups a day) seems to be associated with a reduction in risk for various things like gallstones and diabetes.

Unless you drink it with lots of milk and sugar its not going to have much impact.

I have 3 *strong* mugs of brewed coffee a day. I can't convince myself to reduce it any further. Delicious stuff.

    1. Ok, when you say 'black tea'...do you mean your bog standard cup of Lyons Gold Blend?
And does it have to be black to be any good...can I put milk in it?!

    2. I've taken to making my own coffee on an espresso machine and using frothed full fat milk(approx 70ml)...is this a bad idea fat/calorie wise?

its fine as long as you have factored it into your calorie intake .. personally, i prefer to get cals from solid food rather than liquid cals (aside from beer!) tea and coffee are fine w/o sugar .. a little milk wont do any harm ..

Lyons best counts as black tea. You get more anti-oxidants when drunk without milk, but milk has its own benefits, so it's swings and roundabouts.

Personally, I'm not a fan of low fat everything, so I have no problem with full fat milk. Just watch the amount, milk is one of those things where the calories can add up very fast. I'd go for the Machiato effect, a black coffee with a froth of milk on top, rather than a cup of milk with some black coffee in it.
