Does anyone use them in the winter? Do they not look a bit silly?

They'll look silly if you buy the wrong type...

I personally prefer the plain black, they match my shorts and don't look silly at all.

I've been using them for the past month or two! The black ones I mean, not the frilly ones that taxman uses.

Saw some girls doing the Tour de Burren with those. Was going up corkscrew at the time and there was a definite double take (are they wearing 80s leg warmers or am I having a minor CVE?)

Definitely got the odd socks award for the day...

I use them on mild winters days. The leg warmers are fine and warm, but under normal cycling shorts, the relatively thin cycling material on the cycling short means that my crotch and ass are usually cold.

I use BBB leg warmers and they are comfy, warm and cheap.

On cold days it is better to use tights or 3/4 lengths (I have fleece lined winter ones).

Nice one, so failing that then, are there any really warm and cheap bib tights out there that are any good?

Fine for this time of year but as the Temp drops i would get a pair of tights a good investment. I have Santini legwarmers but BBB do a really good ones.

I got a pair last winter and wish I'd bought them sooner. Fleece lined and go up to the top of the thigh, they make your bibs double up as tights. As a result, I'd only feel the need for tights on the very cold days. Great investment I feel, especially if you're cycling regularly during winter. Tights are expensive after all.

Not really. Unless they're a different colour, you'd think you were wearing tights.

    I just ordered these:

They're Santini so should be good quality. I prefer padless ones as I've found it's hard to get bib tights that fit as well as bib shorts, so it makes sense to have the shorts on underneath for the padding. Padless are also usually significantly cheaper.

    .

Yeah, leg warmers are a great, cheap alternative to full bib tights. The Endura fleece lined ones are nice. Put em on first and then pull the shorts over them and I haven't had any trouble with slipping.
