Anyone have any experience of these? It's the facelift model. The father has been looking around the last few weeks and he's been offered a high spec, low mileage one of these but it's a manual. Would usually say auto on a Merc but the cost to change is significantly less those so it makes it worth considering. I haven't seen it yet but I have heard the newer manuals are quite good. Any thoughts? The car will be kept a few years if he does buy

It's not a face lift, it's an all-new model. If it is the all new C-class, then they're an excellent car by all accounts. Not my engine choice, but that's a different matter! Go for it.

I bought a 07 C180K about 2 weeks ago, and while the spec and build quality is excellent, my only dislike is the gearbox. Iv the 6-speed Manual SPORT gearbox which is the short shift box. And you have to be VERY accurate with you gearchanges, it may feel a bit ropey if changing from a VW or Audi.

i moved from a passat and the gearbox on the passat is a lot smoother.

Great car the w203. I love it.

How much they looking for it? Spec/Miles etc?

The father didn't pay much attention to the exact spec but AFAIK it's an Elegance with a few other extra's. 30k on the clock. The cost to change is coming in about €3k less than any dealers he's been to. It's my uncle is selling it on behalf of someone and he'll take his own car as a trade in.

From reading I had heard some models had the short shifting box but I think this is the normal 6-speed. The road tests seem to say that the manual box is way better in the later models but can't really find owners reviews on it. He's coming from a Focus and thats got a sweet enough gear change.

How do you find the engine? Enough go? Economical?

Nice bit of power in the engine. I think its 143bhp. Great road holding. Mileage seems fine, havent measured it yet, but nothing bad.

From my experience its as good on the road as a 3-series and the spec is will ahead of an equivalent 3-series.
