    Hi

Just out of curiosity how likely is it that a virus could enter your computer via a port open by BitTorrent?

Also do torrents themselves contain viruses generally speaking?

Very unlikely via a port on bittorrent

Torrents wont contain viruses themselves, but if they result in you downloading an .exe .rar .zip file, then that file itself may contain one

Generally torrents are the safest method for p2p

But how are torrents safe from viruses? say i downloaded something off a torrent and then also the same file off limewire-whats the difference?

You don't download torrents from Limewire, you download the files. Torrents themselves are harmless, they are like a map to the actual file. The file they link to can potentially infect your PC, the torrent itself cant.

If you're downloading software then you take a lot of chances. However an .exe file has no business in for example, a movie file. Therefore if the extension is avi.exe avoid.
