Boot camp won't pop up when i hold the option key down at start to allow me to start XP.

Worked no problem before and now doesn't. Can start it through start drive still

Checked other forums and all i find is people saying "are you holding it down long enough" and "it works fine for me" which don't really help my problem

so can anyone give me some help using plain english please?

    Thank you

    A couple of things...

What type of Mac is it?
Are there other external peripherals attached to the Mac?

For example on my 17" MBP the Option key works only if I use the one on the built-in keyboard. I have a USB keyboard attached which I use for work, when I tried to use the Option key on it during the boot sequence it was ignored. I came to the conclusion that the USB keyboard wasn't initialised before the boot sequence.

I have also seen Mac minis which have refused to acknowledge the Option key during the boot sequence. In one case the keyboard had a USB key attached and removing it resolved the issue, in another case changing the USB port the keyboard was attached to fixed the issue.
