    I came home today to find a car parked across my drive way. I had to go look for the driver.I am going to put a no parking sign as it has happened a few times with different people

    If it happens again could I complain to the Garda?

    Absolutely.

    You are entitled to 'access' in so far as your drive way.

    I doubt however if the garda have nothing better to do than come and involve themselves with such an issue. I would suggest ringing the clampers.

    The law says

    S.I. No. 182/1997: ROAD TRAFFIC (TRAFFIC AND PARKING) REGULATIONS, 1997

    36. (1) Save as otherwise provided for in these Regulations and subject to article 5, a vehicle shall not be parked on a public road at a location, in a manner or for a purpose referred to in this article.
    (2) A vehicle shall not be parked—
    (g) in any place, position or manner that will result in the vehicle obstructing an entrance or an exit for vehicles to or from a premises, save with the consent of the occupier of such premises;

    Gardai will attend these calls when they can obviously more important calls get done first, all we will really do is try contact the reg owner of the vehicle if we cant then its a job for the clampers to tow which can be done by a simple call from person who's enterence is being blocked. (this aint passing the buck in dublin the clampers need a complaint from the person who's drive is being blocked and tend not to come out when only requested by the gardai)

    hope this helps

    In Dublin City Council area call their parking enforcement on 602 2500 and have them tow the vehicle.

    same thing happens to me although on my road theres 5 houses in the one block which use the one driveway to get to the communal parking area at the back but you always get people blocking the access, one car in particular was a big offender until an unnamed thug who I genuinely dont know who they are,took a key to the side of the offending car and scratched it which i thought was a bit ott,my suggestion would be to place a letter on the windscreen informing the offender that unless he/she stops parking there further action will be taken
