Hi guys, I am looking to pick up a cheap beginner synth to use in an experimental indie band. My budget is pretty small so I obviously cannot afford to go out and buy a Moog or a nord lead or anything. I know some people don't recommend either of these syths as they are pretty low end but I just need something that I can mess around with and get some decent sounds out of. The style of music is more guitar based with some drum samples and up beat melodies and harmonies. So, can anybody tell me which syth is the best for this?
    Many thanks

This is all my opinion obviously but -

Micron sounds better but is a pain to program, Korg is a little bit less inspiring sound wise but much easier to edit.

the micro korg is a great machine id recomend it to anyone starting off its not a low machine professionals still use them in the studio and have been used for a good while and are used on records these days this is just a small example but the likes of the yeah yeah yeahs have used the micro korg on their latest record and the same with bloc party and elbow and the list could go on

they are a great machine to start off with

    I'd go for the Korg

I really hate indie bands these days but i'll listen to an band who'll use a syth. like a like a Korg

if you hook it up to a laptop and work out a baseline with a seauencer you can get a really exciting sound

these things sound fantastic at a loud volume

plus it's a good way to get your band to play in time

there's a whole new world that opens up once you discover things like arpegiators and filters

    Attack

    Decay

    Sustain

    Release
