    Thanks.

Don't know about self service but the Texaco Garage on the N4 in Lucan has an excellent hand wash service for €5 daily 9-5

Don't, you will destroy your paintwork. Wash the car yourself by hand. Use a good quality wash mitt, and the 2-bucket method. This has been discussed plenty of times before, so do a search for more detail.

Yeah, don't use the brushes or wash up liquid (not good for paintwork at all). Get some brand name car cleaning products (turtle etc).

Thanks all, think I better leave the car until I get a chance. Don't want to ruin the paint.

Exactly hand wash with mitts is the only way to go machine damages the paintwork. Thats the €5 service I recommended there are 4 European chaps they do a car each at peak times and I am always impressed with the results

If you want your car proper clean it's best to get the gear out yourself.

This is what I do on the cheap:
Go somewhere they have a jet wash and a tap. Buy the cheapest program, prob just 5 mins water but don't use it yet.
    Park over the drain grille.
Get out bucket, put shampoo and water from tap in.
Thoroughly clean all surfaces using sponge or mittens, starting from the roof and working your way down (roof, all windows, bonnet, boot, all door panels). This way the dirt travels down.
Finish up by using the jet wash, you now have 5 mins to hose off the car and amend any areas you missed before.
20 mins and 5 euro later, drive off in your clean shiny car.

(You could just use the bucket and tap to rinse car off but that's just taking the pee).

    just join http://www.carcare.ie/forum/index.php

and learn how to properly clean and maintain your car ,
its run by detailers that actually know and get paid to maintain quality cars.

most advice in this motor swection on cleaning cars is maybe 85% ok but its not 100% correct.

The place i work 1euro does 2 minutes,

best way is put in a euro, wash down the car with power hose, put another in and cover in foam, then brush car all over, the another euro to wash off and away you go
