Thats right Mac OS bes too expensive for you Cavan folk :D

Right what version of Mac OS are you currently running?. Are you on Leopard?.
Cause if you are there is no reason why itunes and safari wont work.

If you have Leopard you can buy or download Snow Leopard from the Apple store www.apple.com/ie.

but there should be no reason you cant run itunes 9?. Give a bit more details on the problem and we might be able to help :) What Mac have you got, whats version of the OS are you running, etc etc...

LOL, I'd say your right about that!!!

I'm on 10.4.11 using a PowerBook G4 1ghz thats over 5 years old. Sorry, itunes works fine its when you try access the store its says it needs the new version of Safari 4.0.3 and the new Safari will not lanch cause I've not got the latest OS...

I might try get to better coverage and download it. I pretty sure thats the problem, more money for Apple. Ah well.

Wouldn't have thought you needed latest version of iTunes to buy and listen to music?

Forget about Snow Leopard, it requires an Intel Mac.

I'm not sure exactly what the problem is here. But I assume iTunes uses Safari's Webkit framework to access the iTunes store, and iTunes 9 probably needs the latest version.

How did you download Safari 4? Via Software update or from the Apple site? If it was from the Apple site make sure you downloaded the Tiger version and not the Leopard version.

The latest version of Safari (4) doesn't require Snow Leopard:
    • Any Mac running Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.7 or Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 and Security Update 2009-002
    • Mac with an Intel processor or a Power PC G5, G4, or G3 processor and built-in FireWire®
    • 256MB of RAM

    http://www.apple.com/safari/download/

You must have downloaded the Snow Leopard version. On the page above, there's a Tiger version too (see the radio buttons). Try downloading that instead.

Both iTunes and Safari use the WebKit rendering engine, so maybe that's why you need to update Safari to run the latest iTunes. But you certainly don't need Snow Leopard
