It just stopped all of a sudden. I downloaded the latest firmware and it still wont work, all other keys work fine. Not sure if its hardware based, I didnt physically damage it so I dont know what happened. Its useless without the enter key, couldnt figure out how to assign another key as replacement. can that be done?

I presume it's the Apple bluetooth keyboard. Is it the recent aluminum version or the old one? The old ones were notorious for giving problems.

Does the enter key on the numeric pad work?

It's the newest alluminum one without the numerical keypad
Ive only used it for the past few months but I bought new maybe 18months ago on ebay so I doubt I'd be covered by warranty, tho 'goods should be fit for their intended use'

Try deleting it from the Bluetooth list in System Prefs and re-pairing it. Also try testing it while logged in under a different user account. Finally, if you have access to another Mac, test it with that.

If all that fails, then it's most likely a hardware problem. Might still be fixable, but given that you bought it on Ebay, I'm not sure how much luck you'd have getting Apple to do it for you outside of warranty. You'd need the original receipt - unless the seller was an Apple dealer.
