Nothing new here , I Need to Lose Weight ...

    Boring post warning :P

    I might aswell face it, I'm fat, and need to lost weight. I'm 17 years old, 5' 8" and (around) 196 lb (14st). I know, I let myself go :(.
    Sick of trying to hide my belly in when sitting beside good looking girls in class and buying XL clothes and the like .. I'm going to lose weight.

    I'm not looking for an overnight miracle, though that would be nice :pac:. Preferably I'd like to lose the weight I've gradually gained, and go down to like 11 / 12 st, meaning a 42 / 28 lb weight loss, by the start of August. Averaging 1lb a week, this should be possible, right?

    Only just had the cajones to be bothered to try today so I don't have a food log, as yet, but I will post it up here asap.

    Can anyone give me an idea of good exercises to start off with , considering I haven't gone to the gym in over 2 years :eek:.
    How long should I be spending in the gym a day, considering I have too much free time, for now anyways. I will be joining the gym in college, 2 minutes from my front door, to the door, so I've no excuses :D.

    Poor diet is the for me, the main reason behind the weight gain, so if anyone has a few good links for portion sizes / good diet examples for losing weight I'd really appreciate it, I'm pretty clueless if I'm honest.

    no-one around today.

    whats your diet like? im guessing pretty crap. basically you should eat better and exercise more. losing weight is about consuming less calories than you use for energy. eat less calories and youll lose weight, exercise more and you burn more calories, put the two together and you lose more weight.

    for weight exercises - the lifts that use the most muscle; squats, deadlifts, bench, OH press, chin ups, dips, etc. google compound lifts. id try something like squats, romanian deadlift, bench, OH press, chins/row, 3x8. dont worrry too much about the time in the gym, keep to an hour or less. intensity is key, which for weight lifting is the weight. start light and build it up. but look after your diet first.

    the fitness sticky has some basic info and should give you a good starting point. then read more, educate yourself on what you need and do it. good luck.
