Yet another HD query

My installation of the HD is 1 month old tomorrow (must celebrate :p) but honestly I havent seen any significant difference in the picture quality so Im thinking of canceling.

There is the odd time when I switch back and forward between, say, Sky Sports 1 and SS1 HD that I think there is a little improvement but theres not enough if any to keep me paying nearly €15 a month for.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so what if anything did you do about it?

I think your right , A friend of mine got the HD package and we were expecting to be blown off our seats but it wasn't fantastic , don't get me wrong it was nice , but very similar to normal sky+(Which is the one i have).

So in these tough times i'd stick to sky+,it's cheaper and the picture is still 1000 times better then analogue

well you only have 11 left months to pay for the hd channels :D

I think the difference is huge ( i only have bbc,itv luxe in HD )

what tv have you got it hooked up to , have you adjusted the settings on the tv?

I think your right to cancel as €15 a month for HD is sacandalous. Take Sky Italia for example who offer about 15 odd HD channels including Sports and Films for free as part of their package! I have no interest in getting HD off Sky until they drop the sub.

Thats why I stated about having it a month. Today is the last day of the cooling off period :)

You hit the nail on the head.

I decided to ring the techies in Sky and a nice chap talked me through a few things. Long story short he told me to press the AV button on the TV remote and a drop-down list appeared showing - TV, Scart1, Side AV, PC Input, HDMI etc etc. The TV option was ticked so I scrolled down to HDMI and pressed select and hey presto - HD on tap :)

Fantastic picture now and all at the touch of a button. Doesnt say much for the clown who installed it though.

Thanks for all the replies lads.

Thats great news you got it sorted but doesnt take away from the fact that it is still not worth €15 a month. Thats €180 a year which is nuts. Get yourself a motorised dish and a dreambox and your laughing.

I do agree with you redout and if I had my way the Sky+ would be plenty for me.

Its just that a couple of the family here chipped in together and got it for me for my birthday back in August and they are also making the repayments so it aint costing me anything.

On a more general note however the guy I was talking to from Sky a bit earlier told me that they get a lot of calls like mine and a large percentage of them are down to faults such as the wrong cable being fitted or the TV setting being wrong. He reckoned there are probably loads of other people out there in the same situation and that they just dont realise they have to change something for the HD to become active.
