Just wondering I was signing up to online accounts via Laser but I was wondering is this a bad idea as banks may check your accounts when you apply for a loan?

Does anyone know if you can sign up to online gambling sites ie paddypower etc using moneybookers or Paypal or something like that?

Having discussed this with an AIB Bank Manager, he explicitly told me that having any gambling related transactions on your bank statement, even if it is incoming, will impact negatively when deciding whether or not to loan you money. Rightly or wrongly they view gambling transactions as a sign of financial instability.

The best option in my opinon is to set up a seperate bank account with someone else for all your 'dirty' (:P) transactions. I'm a student so there are no shortage of offers to me - I have accounts with BOI, AIB and Ulster. I'm not too sure what they offer for people not in full time education.

Furthermore, laser card is by far the easiest, cheapest and best way to conduct your online gambling activities.

everyone of the sites i use has moneybooker available. very handy and instant withdrawal so you don't need a bank on each site.

If you want a Betfair sign-up bonus private message me and I will send you my referall code, you get 35, i get 30

went for a loan or even loan extension about 2months ago.... bank told me they wouldnt give it to me due to the online gambling transactions:

I stopped online gambling ... managed to pay off one credit card (7K) and pay 2K off the other card - as well as keep up my loan payments..... Bank are now willing to offer me a loan and I told 'em feck off - as soon as my debts are cleared I'm switching banks. .... over 20+ years of banking with the same bank - they wont hold any loyalty, I have never missed a payment and when I look for a loan/loan extension ...they say no !
    /rant

Anyway - OP .... dont use your bank account to gamble - not if you intend getting a loan anytime in the (near) future.

Thanks for the replies..yeah I already signed up to betfair, paddypower, ladbrokes and bet365 with my AIB laser. Just in the last two months. AIB is my prime bank account. I will use moneybookers from now on I reckon. Will I be able to get a loan in future with AIB or will it be affected I wonder ?

If you've only deposited once into those accounts then probably not. I'd imagine its a consistent stream of transactions they look for. If you get asked the question simple thing to say is you got a tip for a horse(s) off a family friend and couldn't make it to the bookies. ;)
