I have a Sony DVD Recorder and for the last few days Guideplus hasn't been updating. It was updating overnight via British Eurosport from a Sky box but not now. Has British Eurosport changed number on the Sky EPG or what could be the problem?

    Many thanks!

When was your last update? I think mine is working fine but it'll be tonight before I can confirm.

    Thanks for your reply.

After a lot of fiddling with it, I discovered that the reason it wasn't updating was that it wasn't chaging from whatever channel I had last been watching over to British Eurosport. When I now want to record something, even through Guideplus, I now have to manually change over to whatever channel I will be recording, which is a real pain.

Any idea why this is happening? It seemed to start last Wednesday. Could it be something to do with all the Freeview channel changes in the UK? It was working perfectly before then.

Is your G-link yokie still working, i.e. does it change channels for recording etc? Otherwise, I shouldn't think the Freeview changeover would have affected it, what might be more likely is that, as it depends on data transmitted in teletext, sometimes rogue data gets sent. It can normally be rectified by just resetting your Host Channel to British Eurosport. I get this problem about once a year and it usually is sorted just by re-selecting the Host Channel.

No, it doesn't change channels for recording. I've just reset the host channel to British Eurosport (410) so I'll see what happens tomorrow after it updates tonight.

It might be that the G-link cable is damaged or else just not sending the signal to the box - it may have been moved - is the infrared bit pointing towards the remote bit on the Sky box? Check that the cable hasn't come loose from the back of the DVD recorder too.

If the G-link cable ain't working then there's your problem.

this happened to me a few months back, unplugging and replugging my sky box sorted it out. If you cannot see eurosport teletext when you press text on your tv remote try this.

Yes, it is pointing to the remote bit on the Sky box and I've checked that it's still plugged into the back of the DVD recorder. I'll see if it updates tonight.

I unpluged and plugged in the Sky box again, too!

    Thanks for your replies. :)

How did you get on? Did it update?

No, it didn't update, and I've been out all day so it had ample time to do it, as well as last night. :(

Teletext on Eurosport is a bit all over the place, like the signal isn't quite strong enough, could that be what's wrong?

the data comes from eurosport teletext, so this may be the problem
