    Hi
I am thinking about buying am mobile catering trailer next year, looking to start small pitching up at market days & events. You can get these for under 10k so not a big investment will be selling nice gourmet burgers & hot dogs maybe baked potatoes.
Seeking core business advice from any who have experience in outdoor catering, I worked as a butcher & deli manager for many years so I am converse with the public health laws.

Good luck with this venture. In my experience it's all about the pitch, some small markets are charging big money for space these days.

There is a weekly market in the IFSC that is crying out for a gourmet burger stand. A guy there sell paella and cleans up.

best of luck with it, can't really help as I am not involved in this area.

At the garden festival in the Pheonix Park earlier this year, there was a HICK's van and they were charging €6 or €7 for a hot dog and another van was charging €7 to €8 for a burger!!

You might consider approaching some of the film companies who are shooting in the west, may give you work during the week days

I think it's all about your desire to spend your weekends chasing the crowds to football matches, festivals etc... If you up for that, then that's the main thing.

if your still interested in pursuing this venture please feel free to contact me, I bought a fast food van last year, went through everything from scratch, its not that difficult and the return on investment is excellent, for those interested I'm selling my van, reluctantly, due to illness - thebuttybox@gmail.com

Good Luck. From the outside it looks like great business, but let me assure you it is not. I worked in 2007 for the biggest operator here in Ireland. From Marley Park to Race Courses etc. Unless you know what you are doing you are most likely get screwed on rent and other hidden costs ie power, water etc. And profits you make on a sunny day are gone with the rain.
Need any more info PM me.
    Cheers Oliver
