Australian Traffic Fine

Just recieved a speeding fine from Australia which I picked up on holiday from a roadside speed camera. Was travelling in a Hertz rental car at the time and have already being charged a fee of $30 to my credit card for administration in processing the fine.
Actual fine amounts to $333 (about €200) which i recieved in a seperate notice from the police. Now that I'm back in Ireland is there anything they can do to make me pay up, like taking it from my credit card (Hertz have details of this) or if I ignore it could it effect me getting into Australia in the future?

    Any advice appreciated.

I wouldn't want to give you any advice on whether to pay the fine or not, but I would think you will be Ok to get back into Oz. The traffic fine is a State fine, immigration matters are a Federal issue.

What State did you get pinged in?

    Pay it.

You never know when you may want/need to go back.

They don't mess around about speeding in Australia.

Hertz will bill your credit card,

as registered owner of the vehicle they would be responsible for fines from automatic cameras in Ireland, I assume the australian state you were speeding in the laws are similar.

You agree as part of the car rental agreement to let them bill any tolls or fines to your credit card.

How fast were you going and in what state incidently? I got a fine of 132 AUD a couple of years ago for going 112km.hr in a 100 in victoria, you must have been doing quite some speed.

Judging by the size of the fine, I would say you got caught in NSW.

Australia is a driver liable country so once the owner gives your name and address to the police that is the end of the matter for the owner. They then chase the driver.

If you ever plan on going back there again, I would pay it.

Was in Queensland doing 28k over the limit. Fines are incremental based on how much you exceed the limit.

Yikes. There was a time where A$50 was the typical fine in QLD. NSW led the way with huge fines. It seems the other states have cottoned on to this. :(
