The Two Limerick hurling semi-finals are on tomorrow in the GG. Emmets and Na Piarsaigh are up first, hard one to call, Na Piarsaigh have come out of nowhere, and are backboned by a mixture of experience (ex-county star Shane O'Neill) and youth (Kevin Ryan). I'd fancy Na Piarsaigh to come out in a tight game. Adare take on Murroe-Boher after @ 3:30 pm. This should be the game of the year in the county championship. Adare have been on fire this year, and easily saw off Croom in the semis. They seem to put 15 or 16 scores on the board in most games, and with Mark Foley, Conor Fitz, Donnacha Sheehan going well along with young find of the season Declan Hannon, Murroe will find it tough! Although with the three Tobin brothers up front and Seamus Hickey in defence, you can't rule out the East Limerick side. Still, i think it will be an Adare-Na Piarsaigh final.

The Cork County Baord were a disgrace to fix this against the Ladies Football All-Ireland. It could have been brought forward 24 hours or deferred. There is no rush in having a team to play in Muster yet.

I wouldnt be one to be giving out about the CCB with regards their fixtures, Cork has more clubs than any other county to be dealing with and the CCB, for all their faults, are very efficient at running games off.

I don't think it would have been fair on the barrs or clon who were preparing for the final with this date set on their minds to have it suddenly changed.

Even if it was changed the extra numbers that would have went up to croke park would have been minimal

What the Cork county Board do or dont do does not bother me, but everyone knew at the start of the year when the Ladies football All-Ireland was on and i would say 99% of those that have an interest in Ladies football knew barring a shock result, Cork were going to be involved.

    Galway Football Final

    Corofin 0-9 Mountbellew/Moylough 0-9

Very poor quality, whichever of them wins the replay will hardly make much of an impact in the Connaught/All-Ireland Championship.

    Hurling semis next weekend.

    Portumna v Gort
    Loughrea v Mullagh

Barring a major surprise Portumna should win it again. Will be interesting if they have to play Loughrea in the final, considering the bloodbath last time they met in the 2006 final.

Roscommon Senior Football Final. Castlerea 0-10 Western Gaels 0-6
Castlerea easily defended their crown in a poor game as Gaels looking for their first win missed about 11 frees many of them within range.
Hurling Final between Four Roads and Oran next week.

    Westmeath Senior Final
    Garrycastle 3-8 St Lomans 0-6.
Easy win for Garrycastle as the mentals didn't perform.

I thought I saw someone score a point (by accident) for the opposition in that game. Never saw an "own-point" in GAA before!

    Derry Senior Final
    Loup 1-8 0-10 Dungiven
Petty poor final, the Loup showed alot of heart at times. They face the fermanagh champions with the Loup having 'home county venue' advantage.

Dungiven v Slaughtneil play in the Hurling final replay tonight.
(Dungiven have a large number of dual players playing again tonight)

Could any of our Cork/Wexford posters give me a quick insight into their respective county hurling finals? Who the favourites are, players to watch, that kinda thing. I need to write a preview on the county finals around the country for the college tomorrow but apart from the Waterford final I'm not exactly in tune with what's been happening around the country so far.

I have, in a primary schools game. One of the players playing in centre field forgot they had changed ends at the break, won the throw in and went on a solo run, could not figure out why everyone was shouting at them till after they had scored a point.

cork final is on Sunday. It might take from the Waterford one, as a few people along the border might have made the journey to Waterford to see Lismore play.

No real favourites in Cork. Sars are defending champs with a v young side Pat Ryan and Fraggie Murphy aside. Senior footballer Michael Cussen is their key forward. Ray Ryan and Conor O Sullivan are county seniors in defence. Pat Ryan good at midfield and Tagdh Og Murphy,Fraggie and Cussen good up front. Like Sars, Newtown have cruised into the final without being remotely tested so far. They've a core of vastly experienced players with youth also in the mix. Pat Mulcahy still dominates from centreback with ex Tipp player Diurmuid Gleeson and Gerdi Mahoney good in defense. Cathal Naughton is lightning at midfield and the O Connor twins and county minor Jamie Caughlan are v good up front. I've a slight fancy for Newtown

Carlow Hurling final on this Sunday between Mount Leinster Rangers and Erins Own.

MLR will be hot faves to win, as they have the most co players on their side and have easily got this far. Last won it 2 years ago, and will be mad to make up for last year where they lost title to a last minute goal v Naomh Brid.

Erins Own are going for 1st title since 1970. Great for Carlow hurling to see a new club emerge, with a few more players for co panel ahead of our venture into Leinster Championship!

Reckon MLR to win by at least 6 pts.

The Waterford Senior Hurling Final was a draw.

    Ballygunner 4-12 Lismore 2-18

    Very entertaining game.

Newtownshandrum looked good against Sarsfields. 3..21 to 1..12 is fair hiding.

Ben O'Connor said after the game that 1 of the team is 35 or 26
"sure he has 4 or 5 good years left in yet"

Yeah very enjoyable game. Lismore were 10 points up at one stage, think it was somewhere around 2-7 to 0-3 after only 15-20 minutes, but Paul Flynn struck a good penalty soon afterwards and Lismore were winning 2-9 to 1-6 at HT.

Lismore hit a few more points at the start of the 2nd half before Ballygunner got 2 goals in 90 seconds. Lismore tapped over 2-3 more points before the Gunners then got their 3rd in the half a couple of minutes later. Lismore were pretty much always ahead by a point or two leading into the final few minutes and it looked like they were going to win it after going into injury time two points clear, but the man himself Paul Flynn struck two very good points to end it as a draw. Probably a far result overall, even if Ballygunner never took the lead in the entire 60 minutes.

Replay scheduled for 4pm next Saturday, not sure yet whether it'll be in the city or Dungarvan.

    Portumna 4-14 Gort 6-05

Hmmm not a bad thing us being run close like that, it'll give the boys something to think about before the final. Gort didn't score any points from play and scored 2-01 in injury time. Diabolical stuff for 4/6 goals Gort scored and to be fair there was diabolical stuff from Gort for 2 of the Portumna goals.

Hoping for Loughrea in the final. :)

I was at this game last night. The clowns on the county board should be ashamed of themselves and heads should roll imo. The player was lying on the pitch for between 30 & 45 mins waiting for an ambulance to come. This is a wholly unacceptable state of affairs and traumatic for all fans at the match, particularly Cahill's family.

Results of the 4 Kerry 1/4 finals -

South Kerry 1-12, St Michaels Foilmore 1-08
Feale Rangers 0-14, Mid Kerry 1-05
Austin Stacks 0-13 Laune Rangers 1-08
Dr. Crokes 5-17 St. Brendans 3-08 (Gooch scored 3-7)

and here is the semi draw -

South Kerry (Divisional) v Austin Stacks
Dr. Crokes v Feale Rangers (Divisional)

The Narries (kerins o rahillys (Quirke, Moran and the 2 walshs) will represent Kerry in the Munster Championship, if It is a South Kerry V Feale Rangers Final.

for those outside of kerry, South Kerry would have Declan Sullivan playing plus a host of former minors, u-21 and seniors and also Brian Sheehan and Killian Young.

Crokes of course have the Gooch and then players like Brosnan and a few others who were on the panel last year.

Stacks have Star and then Daniel Bohane.

Feale Rangers beat the raining champions Mid Kerry (Darran Sullivan, Sean Sullivan, Donnacha Walsh) and they have Galvin, Kennelly and then players like Fitzmaurice (selector) and panel members Kieran Quirke, Anthony Maher, Maurice Corridon.

so, next years kerry captain will either be -

    Declan Sullivan
    Colm Cooper
    Kieran Donaghy
Tadhg Kennelly (maybe paul galvin, but he may not want it!)

im going for feale rangers, they have quality all over.

Are you saying their was no emergency services at the final? A Paramedic, doctor? and stretcher to at least have the player taken to the dressing room. Thats scandelous.

If it were a case of waiting for emergency ambulance to arrive you cant blame the Co Board.

    HOPE THE PLAYER IS OK

To the best of my knowledge the only form of assistance was the team physio, a stretcher emerged after a few mins but the player wasn't put on it and moved inside to the dressing rooms. He was left on the pitch with a crowd stood around him till an ambulance came about forty mins after the incident.
The player broke his leg in two places and was due to have an operation today.

MLR 1-13, Erins' Own (Bagenalstown) 1-11.
Close-run thing & if Erins' Own'd taken a few point-chances instead of going for goal on 2 or 3 occasions, they'd've won it on their' 1st Time in Final since 1970 iirc.
MLRs' Dominance of the Sport & at this grade continues. 4th Final in a Row & 3d Time Champions with ondly last years' loss a blip on the radar.

As said already the county board does not dispatch ambulances and the physio must of felt is was safer to leave him as be;)
