    Hi all,

I have a upc digital+ box and it seems fairly noisy when on stand by, does it need to be left on standby or can I just turn off the socket when I'm not going to be watching for a while?

Does it use much energy while in standby, it's one of the black thomson boxes.

    Thanks,
    Neil.

Perfectly ok to plug it out when your not using it if you can be bothered that is. It uses about one third the electricity in standby.

Thanks :) Switch on the socket is easy to get at so will turn it off at night.

You might consider these. Have a few of these packs, and can shut everything down with one remote. So instead of a half-dozen boxes under your TV all on standby, you just have one remote control plug, drawing minimal power.

I've found you can hear the disk quite clearly when it's on, but once you put it on standby, the disk shuts down and there's not a peep out of it. Maybe your box is faulty?

That model box has an on/off switch on the rear panel. You can turn it completely off using it if you wished.(or wall socket as mentioned)

Yes I can hear the disc running all the time, sounds exactly the same even when it's on standby.

You think it's a faulty digibox?
