    Derren Brown just
lost £5,000 trying to predict the spin of a roulette wheel :)

And this is from the from who expects us to believe he "predicted" the lottery results.

Man that show ended badly - "Ben we're gonna get your money back alright?"

    LOL at D.B.

    Hard luck Ben

He did a good job hypnotizing him though...

He was quite unlucky I thought ( one off and all that ) and kinda shows that he doesn't ever have a foolproof plan to pull these things off.

Bad end to what I thought was an enjoyable series.

Derren will be back with something new in the near future... I have no doubts about that !

There you go, that's what mods are for after all.

And hopefully they clean up the ass rape comment while they're at it :)

I think he was over ambitious trying to get the number spot on. Even when the guys use computers to predict the position of the ball they usually spread the bet to one number either side of the predicted position.

Well from all the other posts in here now know what happened. ffs

He got the 37 prediction spot on and that was 1/100, roulette is just 37/1 so I would say he was confident he would pull it off, just unlucky I suppose..

So why read the thread if you don't want to know what happened even when the mod changed the title and put spoiler tags in?

I just wonder was that the only attempt he made to predict the location of the ball on the squash court. There could have been others we didn't see. With the roulette wheel he didn't have that luxury.

True, and I just realised I got the 100/1 odds the wrong way round...

    Doh !

It was done to make everything else look feasable his whole ethos is he doesnt do magic failing this one just shows theres a chance of failing to make the previous ones look even more impressive quite convienient the one he fails is the last in the series

So basically he cant win. If he had of pulled it off people would be saying that it was all unfeasible, yet now he missed this one you are saying it was intentional so that the other events would seem more plausible ?

Odd logic, but in fairness can't be ruled out. Oh, and you should try out your full stop button. It does work. ;)

Shame he didn't do 8 and the neighbours. Would have been 30K up.

Sorry but I don't buy this. He tried (and failed) to make us believe he could predict the lottery but couldn't predict a 37/1 shot on a roulette wheel. I don't think so.

No offense, but Derren Brown is a lot smarter than you, whatever happened tonight is what he wanted you to see.

Nothing just "happens" in the world of Derren Brown.

Sorry but there was so much about tonights show that just makes it seem so unbelievable that he actually did it. For a start we dont see the casino properly we have to watch from his arm cam, it looked very quiet and empty. It could be setup in a hall down the road from the guys house for all we know, he threw in having the guy at the table speaking French so we would believe he was in France then amazingly hes only one out. Im sorry im a big fan, read the books and seen every tv show hes done and all that but on in this case I wasnt impressed and it just seemed too fake.

Huh? Of all he's done...THAT'S the straw that broke the camel's back?! The trick that didn't work?!?

It's perfectly plausible: no casino would let him show that he could predict their roulette wheel...so there was no other possible way to show it without a massive lawsuit ensuing.

I've been a big fan of Derren's since the beginning. Was gutted for him that this trick didn't work...when it happened I was waiting for a massive twist that never came.

Though I can see how you would reach the conclusion that a failure was planned, I doubt it. The sceptics will revel in this...and even his more casual fans will question him now...there's no positive spin you can really put on him getting it wrong. Unless he'd have revealed at the very end of the show that he had meant to get it wrong to begin with.

I hope he'll be back...though I'm doubtful. The knives will certainly be out now. Since the lottery prediction, the general public have shown a massive irrational intolerance for the guy. That's a shame. It's simply a case of people not liking what they can't understand. He could very well go down as a martyr for his art.

Seriously? Everyone knows how the lotto trick was done, and theres nothing irrattional about the hatred. People dont hate him because they cant understand it, they hate him because he wasted 2 hours of TV with a poor trick, lied about what he'd do, and then gave the must condescending explanation ever.

If his career is over it not because he's too good for us, its because he's promising things he cant deliver.
