What are you looking for from it?
Something to carry loads of kids? Something to have performance? Something to be comfortable? Something to look cool in? Something reliable?

My opinion would be that you will find some of the above from both (but definitely now all!). However, you would need to decide based on tking them for a *proper* test drive (with loads of kids, for the weekend, etc.).

Personally, I'd rather become a Eunuch than get either! I had the displeasure of driving a Safira last year (to drive from a car rental place in Donnybrook to another one in the airport so I could pick up an Avensis). The gearchange was horrible and as expected there was no performance at all. I was actually happy to get into a Toyota which for me says a lot!

Also look up reviews on www.parkers.co.uk and www.honestjohn.co.uk

Cant beat the Stream then on reliability.

Just be careful if you buy a Jap import though.Odd ball parts can take up to 8 weeks to arrive from Japan through a Honda dealer. The 1.7 auto is a nice drive for a Mpv.The 2.0 is a bit heavy on petrol in the auto which nearly all the Jap ones over here are.

Dont know what year Zafira youre going for but when I was buying the 7 seater it was between a Spacewagon and the Zafira and I was warned off the Zafira by a friend in Opel.

Have you considered the Mitsubishi Grandis

jayok on here has a 2.0 stream (auto I think). Supposed to be the best of all MPVs to drive -- sporty, if that's possible.

I had a Zafira for a week. Fantastic load lugger and all round hard to beat, tho I found after maybe an hour that my back got sore from the upright driving position and the position of the pedals. It was a 1.6 petrol and quite thirty due to short gearing to make up for the small engine.

Test drive both. Both have a lot going for them, but the Zafira would be cheaper if buying 2nd hand, and might even be easier to sell on.
